My Mom and Lean Manufacturing
My mom works as a lean manufacturing supervisor in a soft drink industrial plant and she’s my idol. I say this because of her passion for lean manufacturing and how it has helped her climb the corporate ladder. My mom started out as a quality control analyst in one of the lonely departments of the soft drink plant. Because of her try the knowledge of lean manufacturing, she was able to uplift her career exponentially and in a span of two years that promoted and in four years became the vice president. This is exactly what I want for my career. I mean it doesn’t have to be a career in lean manufacturing but I want a career path that my mom followed. I just hope that its genetic and that her pursuit of excellence will also flow through my veins. I can’t wait to graduate from college and test out my skills.
Being a Human Resource Manager is Fun
I love my job as a human resource manager at the law firm I work at. On any given day, I might be calling job candidates, interviewing possible employees and showing people around who are new hire employees. One of the reasons I like my job is because of the constant interaction with people. For example, the new hire workers have to be taken around the firm and introduced to the attorneys and staff. Then I show them around to the cafeteria, the library and the gym. Sometimes I coordinate with their new bosses to take them to lunch if they have time. I remember what it was like to be new and I try to make them feel completely welcome. I also arrange to have speakers come to the firm from financial institutions to discuss retirement savings plans.
